The Harrisonburg Farmer's Market, in conjunction with Farmers Market Week, will hold a fun-filled celebration on Aug. 8. Featured will be special children's activities, live music, cooking demonstrations by JMU chef Jay Vetter, and a recipe competition utilizing the abundant produce to be found at the market. There will be something for everyone to enjoy plus the usual shopping opportunities found at the market every Tuesday and Saturday which include fresh fruits, produce, herbs, plants, cut flowers, organic items, cheeses, baked goods, meats, homemade preserves, fresh soups and select local handcrafts. The market is open from 7 a.m.-1 p.m. on Tuesdays and Saturdays at the Turner Pavilion across from the Daily News-Record.
