On Feb. 10, from 1-4 p.m., participants can toast their inner artists at CrossKeys Vineyard’s “Sip & Splash.”
Art imitates life, according to Kelly Mattran of CrossKeys and organizer of the event: Pairing painting and casual wine nights with friends sparked the inspiration to create an event open to the public.
“We really enjoyed the time to be creative and catch up with each other during busy work weeks,” Mattran said. “So, we thought it would be a great excuse for people to relax on a Sunday at the winery.”
The first class, held Dec. 16, was so popular that they decided to make it a monthly affair.
Guided by artist Jueun Lee, “Sip & Splash” welcomes all levels of experience, with glass and brush.
A suggested theme-image — a whimsical, yet simple painting of lovebirds, for this pre-Valentine’s Day session — will be provided, along with all supplies and a glass of wine, included in the $30 admission fee.
Guests will also have the opportunity to purchase food from a gourmet chef, as well as additional bottles or glasses of wine during the class.
“We really hope the participants leave the experience with a discovery of a new skill and potential hobby,” said Mattran. “Painting can be a great tool for relaxation or even calming therapy — add in some wine, and you’ve got the perfect getaway from a hectic routine.”
Registration is required: Call the vineyard at (540) 234-0505 to sign up.
