Fifth Annual Bloomfest Approaches
The fifth annual installment of Bloomfest will take place July 14 with free fun and music for the community.
The event, sponsored by Rockingham Memorial Hospital’s Funkhouser Women’s Center, is the flagship celebration for Bloom magazine’s summer issue, which premieres July 11.
More than 20 vendors will set up at the Turner Pavilion, located across from the Daily News-Record. Bloom magazine advertisers, including White Oak Lavender Farm, The Healing Touch Wellness Spa and Pampered Chef, will be available from 1-5 p.m.
Featured this year, the Harrisonburg Police Department will offer fingerprinting for attendees. As a safety precaution, HPD officials say it is important to have fingerprints on file — especially for children.
Members of the city’s fire department will also be available, along with one of its fire trucks for children to explore.
Food will be on sale and live music by Hip Dixie will play throughout the day.
Participants are encouraged to stop by the Bloom table to talk with the magazine’s editors and writers.
“Bloomfest is a wonderful opportunity for readers to meet the magazine’s staff, offer feedback on past issues and ideas for the future,” said Alicia Rimel, Bloom editor. “We look forward to it each summer!”
