Carlton and Sonya Weatherford
Sonya Elizabeth Milstead and Carlton Nunn Weatherford Jr. were married May 26, 2012, in an outdoor wedding at CrossKeys Vineyards in Mount Crawford, Va.

Pastor Randy Cosner performed the evening ceremony. Music was provided by pianist Greg Riddle. Joel Cosner and Paige Gardner performed a duet titled “The Prayer.” The wedding was directed by Kimberly Miller.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Milstead of Dayton and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bodkins of Dayton and the late Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Milstead of Mount Solon.

Milstead graduated from Turner Ashby High School in 2005 and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and Marketing and a Master of Business Administration degree from Virginia Tech. She is employed as a Product Manager for Norfolk Southern.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Weatherford Sr. of Danville, Va., and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. James Hylton, Mr. Calton Weatherford and the late Mrs. Ruby Weatherford, all of Danville.

He graduated from Tunstall High School in 2003 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and a Master of Science in Health Promotions and Sports Performance degree from Virginia Tech, where he was also the starting fullback for the Hokies. He is employed as a Speed and Strength Specialist and is the owner of Weatherford Performance Training.

The bride wore a silk Lazaro gown with a sweetheart neckline. She was escorted and given in marriage by her father. She was attended by maid of honor Carrie Klamut, friend of the bride. Her bridesmaids were Amanda Miller, friend of the bride; Tiffany Swanson, friend of the bride; Carla Weatherford, sister of the groom, and Cara Weatherford, sister of the groom.

The father of the groom was the best man. The groomsmen were Chad Weatherford, cousin of the groom; Josh Demaury, friend of the groom; Tyler Milstead, brother of the bride, and Hunter Hilbert, cousin of the bride.

The reception was held at CrossKeys Vineyards.

After a honeymoon trip to Nassau, Bahamas, the couple is residing at Smith Mountain Lake.
