‘A Once In A Lifetime Thing’
Boy Celebrates His 12th Birthday On Dec. 12, 2012
When Kaleb Cash looked at a calendar on his 11th birthday last year, he made an interesting discovery.
His next birthday would be full of 12s, with his age lining up perfectly with the month, day and year: 12 on 12/12/12.
“It’s really cool because I had always looked forward to being 12 [and] when I found out I was going to be 12 on 12/12/12, I thought, wow, this is amazing,” said Kaleb of Timberville. “It only happens every hundred years; that was pretty cool to find out.”
Since 2001, the world has celebrated a string of “triple dates” — where the month, day and year are identical — but Wednesday marked the last time that will happen until Jan 1, 2101.
Although Kaleb was out sick from school on his big day, his mother, Melissa Cash, planned his favorite meal for Wednesday — macaroni and cheese and baked beans.
“We’ve kind of always known it since he was born that this was going to happen,” Cash said. “We just thought, this is a once in a lifetime thing for Kaleb and it was just really neat that it was going to end up that way.”
