Son Of First Grottoes VFD Chief Donates Heirloom To New Museum

Bill Stickley (left), a 30-year veteran of the Harrisonburg Fire Department, holds his father’s fire chief badge during a presentation with David Kirby, a former Grottoes fire chief, on Aug. 3, at the Grottoes Volunteer Fire Department. The badge belonged to the late Charles Stickley Sr. who was a founding member of the Grottoes VFD and served as its first chief. Bill Stickley is donating the badge to the Grottoes VFD Museum.
