COVINGTON — North Carolina-Greensboro left-fielder Eric Kalbfleisch hit two home runs and Harrisonburg scored four runs in the ninth inning to defeat Covington 11-8 in a Valley Baseball League game Thursday.

The Turks improved to 8-6; the Lumberjacks dropped to 6-5.

Logan Onda (Texas-San Antonio) pitched 3 1/3 innings of relief and allowed just one run to pick up the win.

The teams played a second game later Thursday night. The score was not available for this edition.

Montezuma 14, New Market 0: Brian Croushorn went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored and Adam Brunk added three hits to lead Montezuma to a 14-0 slaughter-rule win over New Market in a Rockingham County Baseball League game Thursday in New Market.

The Braves improved to 7-6; the Shockers dropped to 1-11.

Kevin Rush went 2-for-3 to lead the Shockers.
