Durden Leads HHS: Junior Nets Two Goals In Streaks’ 4-0 Win

BRIDGEWATER — Junior midfielder Hannah Durden scored two goals to lead Harrisonburg High School to a 4-0 win over Turner Ashby in a Valley District girls’ soccer game Tuesday.

The Blue Streaks improved 3-1-1 overall, 1-0-1 in the district; the Knights fell to 1-4 overall.

Senior forward Sally Imran and sophomore midfielder Sophia Hartman also scored for HHS.

Broadway Girls Soccer 6, Waynesboro 0: Senior midfielder Jess Bergan scored two goals and added two assists to lead Broadway to a 6-0 win over Waynesboro in a high school girls’ soccer game Tuesday in Broadway.

The Gobblers improved to 2-3-2; the Little Giants’ record was not available.

The Gobblers improved to 3-1; the Little Giants dropped to 3-3.

Page Co. Softball 6, Luray 5: Junior infielder/pitcher Rachel McCoy hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score senior center fielder Alyssa Rodgers in the bottom of the ninth inning and give Page County High School a 6-5 victory over Luray in a Shenandoah District softball game Tuesday in Shenandoah.

The Panthers improved to 5-0 overall, 3-0 in the district; the Bulldogs fell to 6-1, 2-1.

McCoy went for 1-for-2 with the sacrifice fly and hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning. Sophomore shortstop Kate Gordon went 1-for-2 and had a home run to lead off the bottom of the first for Page.

Page Co. Baseball 7, Luray 0: Junior pitcher Dylan Talghadar pitched a complete game and struck out eight to lead Page County to a 7-0 win over Luray in a high school baseball game Tuesday in Shenandoah.

Senior shortstop Clay Atkins went 3-for-3 with four RBIs for Page.

EMU Sweeps Juniata: Freshman infielder Mariah Foltz hit a walk-off two-run double to score Molly Smith and Casey Racer in a 4-3 win over Juniata in Game 1 of a doubleheader Tuesday in Harrisonburg.

The Royals (11-12-1) also won Game 2, 8-0, in five innings. Juniata fell to 3-20.

Junior center fielder Jordan Aylor led EMU in the Game 2, going 3-for-3.
