Flames Make BRC Semis

HARRISONBURG — Sophomore forward Rachel Keefer scored three goals and added an assist to lead Eastern Mennonite High School to an 8-0 win over the Miller School in a Blue Ridge Conference quarterfinal girls’ soccer game Tuesday.

The Flames improved to 10-2; the Miller School’s record was not available.

EMHS hosts Liberty Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday in the BRC semifinals.

The Knights improved to 5-6-0; the Leemen dropped to 6-5-1.

Freshman forward Hope Simmons added a goal for TA.

The Blue Streaks improved to 9-2-1; the Trailblazers’ record was unavailable.

HHS sophomore goalie Kyra Waldren-Allen had her fourth shutout, and junior midfielder Hannah Durden had an assist.

The Trailblazers improved to 5-10; the Blue Streaks dropped to 6-5.

Senior right fielder Matt Shifflett went 3-for-4 for HHS.

Luray Baseball 7, Buffalo Gap 4: Freshman third baseman Logan Morrison had a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning to drive in the go-ahead runs and lead Luray to a 7-4 win over Buffalo Gap in a high school baseball game Tuesday at LHS.

The Bulldogs improved to 4-10; the Bison fell to 6-8.

Morrison finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run, while right-hander Keaton Seal pitched a complete game and struck out seven for Luray. Sophomore center fielder Jacob Moyer and freshman designated hitter Boo Dean each added two hits for the Bulldogs. Dean also had an RBI.
