BRIDGEWATER — Sophomore infielder Allie Herring had four hits and three RBIs, including a two-run home run in the second inning, to help undefeated Turner Ashby beat R.E. Lee High School 19-3 in a Valley District softball game Thursday.
The Knights improved to 13-0; the Lee Ladies’ record was not available.
TA’s Natalie Helmick had four hits and three RBIs; Cana Davis had three hits, including a first-inning solo homer, and two RBIs; and Olivia Cook had two hits, including a two-run triple, and five RBIs.

EMHS Girls Soccer 4, LCA 1: Sophomore forward Megan Good had a goal and an assist to lead Eastern Mennonite High School to a 4-1 win over Liberty Christian Academy in a Blue Ridge Conference girls’ soccer game Thursday in Lynchburg.
The Flames improved to 9-2 overall, 5-1 in the BRC; LCA fell to 9-2-1, 4-1-1.
Junior forward Sylvia Mast added two assists, and sophomore goalkeeper Leah Wenger had five saves for EMHS, which will be the No. 2 seed in the BRC tournament. The Flames will host a to-be-determined opponent Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in the quarterfinals.
