— Senior libero Marissa Collier had 14 digs and 18 service points to lead Turner Ashby High School to a 25-20, 25-15, 25-12 victory over Harrisonburg in a volleyball match Tuesday night.

The Knights improved to 7-5; the Blue Streaks fell to 6-8.

TA junior defensive specialist Olivia Cook added 13 service points and junior outside hitter Maria Shickel tallied eight kills and 12 digs.

Senior outside hitter Skyler Johnson led HHS with 10 kills and 14 digs.


Holy Cross Regional Boys Soccer 1, EMHS 0: Senior midfielder Daniel Sheedy scored on a header of a throw-in as Holy Cross Regional defeated Eastern Mennonite High School 1-0 in a Virginia Independent Conference boys’ soccer game Tuesday night in Lynchburg.

Holy Cross improved to 7-3 overall, 3-2 in the VIC; the Flames fell to 6-3-3, 3-1-1.

BC Women’s Soccer 2, Salem 1: Sophomore defender Julia Baca scored in the first half and junior forward Mari Marotta added a goal in the second as Bridgewater College hung on to defeat Salem 2-1 in a non-conference women’s soccer game Tuesday in Winston-Salem, N.C.

The Eagles improved to 4-3; the Spirits fell to 4-1-2.
