Spotswood 10-0 After 62-57 Victory
 
CHARLOTTESVILLE
— Junior guard Rachel Lindsay scored six of Spotswood High School’s 12 points in overtime — including the go-ahead 3-pointer — to lead SHS to a 62-57 win over The Miller School in the championship of the Daily Progress girls’ basketball tournament Saturday at Albemarle High School.

The Trailblazers improved to 10-0; the Mavericks fell to 9-1.

Senior point guard Bailey Williams led SHS with 24 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds, and junior forward Taylor Dodson had 17 points, 14 points and eight assists. Dodson scored 16 points in the second half, and the Blazers hit nine of 11 free throws in overtime.

EMU Women 93, Cairn 40: Shakeerah Sykes had 13 points and 13 rebounds to lead Eastern Mennonite University (5-4) to a 93-40 win over Cairn (0-7) on  Saturday in Langhorne, Pa.

The Royals improved to 5-4; the Highlanders fell to 0-7.

EMU shot a season-best 51.3 percent from the floor and out-rebounded Cairn 46-25. Cairn also had 32 turnovers to EMU’s 16.

Jess Rheinheimer and Kala Yoders each added 12 points for the Royals.
