SHS Edges Giants: Nelson, Dodson Lead Blazers
— Senior middle hitter Tabitha Nelson had 18 kills and senior outside hitter Tayler Dodson added 10 as Spotswood High School edged Waynesboro 25-22, 21-25, 25-12, 13-25, 15-12 in a volleyball match Tuesday.

The Trailblazers improved to 13-6; the Little Giants fell to 10-3.

Junior libero McKenzie Jenkins had 27 digs for SHS.

Harrisonburg Volleyball 3, R.E. Lee 2: Junior middle hitter Kaelen Adams tallied 15 kills, junior defensive specialist Krishna Goradia added 13 digs and junior setter Ananda McAfee had 31 assists as Harrisonburg defeated R.E. Lee 25-19, 14-25, 7-25, 25-22, 15-13 in a volleyball match Tuesday in Staunton.

The Blue Streaks improved to 7-9; the Lee Ladies fell to 9-4.

EMHS Volleyball 3, Holy Cross 0: Sophomore Laura Rittenhouse and freshman Lauren Weaver each had seven kills and senior Sam Jacob had five aces as Eastern Mennonite High School blanked Holy Cross 25-19, 25-13, 25-23 in a Blue Ridge Conference volleyball match Tuesday in Harrisonburg.

The Flames improved to 6-9 overall, 3-1 in the BRC; the Gaels’ record was not available.

Liberty Christian Soccer 3, EMHS 1: Junior forward Matthew Jung scored twice in overtime to give Liberty Christian a 3-1 victory over Eastern Mennonite High School in a Virginia Independent Conference soccer game Tuesday in Lynchburg.

The Flames improved to 6-4-3 overall, 3-3-1 in the VIC; Liberty Christian’s record was not available.

Junior forward Chad Lehman scored for EMHS off an assist from Grayson Mast.
