I’d like the Col. D.H. Lee Martz chapter of the Sons of Confederate Veterans to discontinue the course it is taking regarding Confederate graves in Woodbine Cemetery.
Normally, I would donate to such a cause, but for them not to list the first names and pertinent dates on the stones for these fallen men is irresponsible. These men paid the ultimate sacrifice and somebody grieved for them — they were fathers, brothers and sons.
With just so little information, descendants can’t be sure that’s their ancestor. It’s just wrong. Good grief, has our society degenerated that much to withhold a name and date just because in somebody’s mind, it looks better?
