City: Ariake To Invest $6.2M In New Line

HARRISONBURG — Harrisonburg Mayor Ted Byrd announced today that the Ariake Group, one of the world’s largest providers of stocks, bouillons, and natural meat flavorings, will invest $6.2 million in a new production line at its Harrisonburg manufacturing facility.

The new line, which is expected to be operational by January, will result in the creation of “at least four new jobs,” a statement from the city said. Ariake USA Inc. currently has 75 employees at its North Liberty Street facility.

The expansion is the company’s third since it moved to Virginia in 1989, according Brian Shull, economic development director for the cit y of Harrisonburg. Ariake’s last expansion, in 2007, included a $23.5 million investment that doubled the size of its facility.

Ariake Japan Company Ltd. was established in Japan in 1966.
