Walmart Gives $40K For Mentoring
HARRISONBURG — On Tuesday, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Harrisonburg-Rockingham County will receive a $40,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is scheduled to receive the check, according to a statement from the group, during the February employee meeting at the Walmart Distribution Center in Mount Crawford at 4:30 p.m.
“The grant will enhance the long-standing relationships that the three local Walmart facilities have had with the local Big Brothers Big Sisters affiliate,” the statement says. “The funds will provide enhanced school-based mentoring services and support early literacy initiatives for at least 110 local children in 2014.”
