Posted: April 10, 2012

Area sportsmen will have a unique opportunity Saturday and Sunday to compete against some of the best archers in the state. For the first time in its history, Singers Glen Bowbenders is hosting the two-day Virginia Bowhunters Association Spring Classic.

Archers will complete one round of 25 3-D targets on Saturday and another round of 25 on Sunday. There will be two flights of competition each day, beginning at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, and 8 a.m. and noon on Sunday.

Club President Shannon Nesselrodt expects between 100-150 participants at the tournament. This is the first year the club has hosted an event of this calibre, he said.

Registration will be Saturday morning. The entry fee is $20/person or $40/family.

Proceeds will be equally split between the Singers Glen Bowbenders and the Virginia Bowhunters Association, which was chartered in 1941 to support the sport and increase opportunities for archers.
