Carroll Named All-CAA

HARRISONBURG — James Madison sophomore left fielder Chad Carroll was named a first-team All-Colonial Athletic Association baseball player Tuesday.

 

Carroll hit .393 with 54 RBIs, 20 stolen bases, 43 runs, 14 doubles, three home runs and a national-best eight triples.

 

JMU had three third-team selections: senior outfielder Johnny Bladel (.311 average, .482 on-base percentage, 56 runs), junior designated hitter Conner Brown (.323 average, nine home runs, 44 RBIs) and senior utility player Colby Roberts (.395 average, .645 slugging percentage, .462 on-base percentage).

 

Delaware first baseman Jimmy Yezzo was the CAA Player of the Year, North Carolina-Wilmington’s Mat Batts was the Pitcher of the Year, Towson catcher Andrew Parker was the Defensive Player of the Year and Georgia State outfielder Josh Merrigan was the Rookie of the Year.

 

UNCW’s Mark Scalf and William & Mary’s Jamie Pinzino shared the Coach of the Year award.
