UPDATE: 'Checklist' Now Required For Building Permit
Posted: April 8, 2013
HARRISONBURG — Starting today, property owners, contractors and others seeking building permits from the city of Harrisonburg will have to complete a checklist before submitting their application, according to a release from the city.
A committee made up of personnel from various city departments recently conducted an evaluation of the Harrisonbur's building permit process, focusing on ways to prevent unanticipated expenses and delays that often occur after permits were issued, a release from Mary-Hope Vass, public information officer for the city, explained.
As a result, a checklist was created to help avoid any miscommunication about the scope of the project and other issues, Vass said. The building permit checklist is available online at www.HarrisonburgVA.gov/permits.
“We want to resolve, or at least bring attention to, problems before the project begins in order to eliminate any unforeseen delays or expenses,” Stacy Turner, director of the Department of Planning and Community Development, said in a statement released today from the city.
