Several members of the local lodging industry have come out against the proposed $40 million hotel and conference center that would be built on JMU-owned property on South Main Street near Martin Luther King, Jr. Way. They say the city should not support a project that brings direct competition to existing business.

HARRISONBURG — At least one City Council member has put it in writing that he supports building a hotel and conference center funded partially with taxpayer money on South Main Street.
