Dukes Stomp Hofstra

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. — Sophomore guard Precious Hall scored 20 points, her second straight game of 20 or more, as James Madison defeated Hofstra 77-50 in a Colonial Athletic Association women’s basketball game Sunday at Mack Sports Complex.

The Dukes improved to 13-4 overall, 3-0 in the CAA; the Pride fell to 6-10, 1-4.

Hall was one of four Dukes scoring in double figures. Senior guard Kirby Burkholder had 18 points, sophomore Jazmon Gwathmey scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds and junior forward Toia Giggetts had 13 points.

Hofstra was led by senior forward Anma Onyeuku’s 17 points. As a team, the Pride shot 30.4 percent from the floor, including 20 percent from beyond the arc.

The Dukes return to action Thursday at home against Drexel (7 p.m.). The Dragons (8-8, 3-0) are the only other remaining unbeaten squad in CAA play.

The Royals improved to 11-4, 5-1 in the ODAC; Hollins dropped to 5-10, 0-6.

Roanoke Women 78, BC 64: Senior guard Paxton Gwin scored 24 points to lead Roanoke College to a 78-64 win over Bridgewater in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference women’s college basketball game Saturday in Bridgewater.

Roanoke improved to 7-7 overall, 3-3 in the ODAC; the Eagles dropped to 5-9, 3-3.

EMU Men 72, Emory & Henry 58: Junior guard Marcel Crump scored 26 points to lead Eastern Mennonite University to a 72-58 win over Emory & Henry in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference men’s college basketball game Saturday in Emory.

The Royals improved to 8-7 overall, 3-3 in the ODAC; the Wasps dropped to 2-13, 0-6.

BC Men 76, Roanoke 57: Senior guard Tavis Stapleton scored 19 points to lead Bridgewater College to a 76-57 win over Roanoke in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference men’s college basketball game Saturday in Bridgewater.

The Eagles improved to 8-6 overall and 3-3 in the ODAC; Roanoke dropped to 6-8, 0-6.
