D-Backs Clinch

STUARTS DRAFT – Ryan Cooper, who played all three bases defensively, went 3-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs as Stuarts Draft out-slugged Elkton 14-11 to win its second straight Rockingham County Baseball League pennant on Sunday.

The Diamondbacks, who lost 8-5 to Clover Hill on Saturday, finished the regular season 23-5; The Blue Sox finished 18-10.

Right fielder Brandon Clark also homered for Draft.

Left fielder Logan Furloines went 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs to lead Elkton. Second baseman Shannon Cross had three hits, and right fielder Joe Burris added three RBIs for the Blue Sox.

The RCBL playoffs will begin later this week, but it’s unclear what day.
