E.W. Jackson Is An Extremist

Posted: July 2, 2013

Thomas Moser urges voters to support the Republican candidate for Lieutenant governor, E.W. Jackson because “you will not see his actions belie his words” (“Back Jackson For Lieutenant Governor,” June 26). That is the problem with Jackson. His words are so extreme that even some Republicans cannot support him, most notably Rep. Scott Rigell, R-Va., who said he cannot endorse Jackson because of Jackson’s views on the gay community.

Jackson has also said that government social programs have done more harm to the African-American community than slavery. He believes that President Obama has a “Muslim perspective.” He has suggested that yoga may make people vulnerable to satanic possession, a statement he has since modified.

The lieutenant governor presides over the Senate of Virginia and can cast a tie-breaking vote. It is hard to believe that Virginia’s voters will elect this extremist to such an important position.
