Elected Officials Must Compromise

Posted: January 10, 2013

Compromise is not a dirty word. Yet, I have heard the opposite sentiment expressed time and time again between our two political parties. No wonder the 112th Congress was one of the most unproductive and unpopular in history.

Our government has worked well up to this point because we have two parties with different views on how the country should be run. This divide is supposed to create healthy debate, which should evolve into a compromise.

However, when we elect officials who refuse to compromise we are simply perpetuating this disgraceful failure to do what is best for our country.
