UPDATE: Ride Mishap Injures One

Weather Being Blamed For Incident At Pendleton County Fair

UPDATE
It now appears that a gust of wind blew a ride, or part of a ride, off its base, injuring one person. The extent of the person's injuries is not known at this time.

Like much of western Virginia and eastern West Virginia, the area where the fair is located, near Circleville, has had severe thunderstorms tonight, some of which have included strong winds.

A carnival ride has apparently collapsed at the Pendleton County Fair in Circleville, W.Va.

Details are sketchy at this time and it's not clear how many people have been injured in the collapse or how serious those injuries might be. The four-day fair opened today and the rides just opened at 6 p.m. this evening.
