PENN LAIRD – It didn’t take long for Spotswood High School junior Justin Kier to receive his first offer after July’s open recruitment period ended Thursday.

SHS athletic director Tim Leach confirmed on Friday that Fairfield, a Division I program in Connecticut, offered Kier a scholarship after seeing him match up well against another prospect on the school’s radar at a recent AAU tournament.

The 6-foot-3, 170-pound wing averaged 18.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists for the Trailblazers, who went 28-2 with a 3A state semifinals appearance. Kier was named to the 3A all-state second team as a sophomore.
