NEW: Hazardous Waste Dispoal Saturday

City, County Residents Can Drop Off Materials At Recycling facility

HARRISONBURG — City and county residents are invited to dispose of household hazardous waste materials this Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon.

The Harrisonburg Recycling Facility will be accepting oil-based paints, solvents, fuels, automobile fluids, syringes and needles, lead acid and dry cell batteries, herbicides and pesticides, and fluorescent lights.

The waste materials must be in their original containers and will be accepted from households only, due to state and federal regulations. There is also a limit of five units per vehicle.

Latex paints, unlabeled containers, chlorinated solvents, containers over 5 gallons and commercial wastes will not be accepted.

The recycling facility is at 2055 Beery Road. For a full list of accepted materials, see the flier at www.rockinghamcountyva.gov.
