BHS Wins Tourney: Gobblers Beat Millbrook, Central
 
WOODSTOCK
— Junior third baseman Tristan Bailey went 5-for-7 with five stolen bases, three RBIs and three runs scored in two games combined to lead Broadway High School to its second straight Harry Combs Memorial Baseball Tournament championship on Saturday.

The Gobblers, who beat Millbrook 12-8 in their first game and topped Central 11-3 in the final, improved to 6-2.

Freshman Jake DePoy earned his first career victory in the later game, allowing one run on five hits in four innings. Sophomore Ethan Matthews struck out seven batters in three innings to pick up his first save.

Dalton Morris and Bradley Ritchie each went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs in the win over Central.

In the win over Millbrook, senior first baseman Kenley Lohr went 3-for-5 with two RBIs, one run scored and a stolen base, while sophomore left fielder Patrick Clark went 2-for-2 with two RBIs.

Broadway Softball Splits Pair: Senior catcher Danyele Smith went 4-for-7 with a home run and two doubles to help Broadway High School split two games in the Liberty Invitational Tournament on Saturday in Bedford.

The Gobblers, who beat Altavista 2-0 and lost to Liberty-Bedford 4-3, are now 6-1. LBHS improved to 7-0.

EMHS Girls Soccer 7, Chatham Hall 0: Freshman forward Rachel Keefer scored two goals as Eastern Mennonite High School defeated Chatham Hall 7-0 in a Blue Ridge Conference girls’ soccer game Friday evening in Chatham.

The Flames improved to 9-0 overall, 5-0 in the BRC; the Purple Turtles fell to 3-1-1, 0-1.
