JMU Crushes Alcorn
Dukes Roll, 42-3
Scott, however, left the game after catching a 10-yard touchdown pass from Thorpe with 3:06 left in the first half. The junior tailback spent the rest of the game walking around on the sidelines.
It is unclear what Scott injured or how serious that injury is.
Scott also caught five passes for 39 yards and averaged 13.4 yards per carry and his long was 67 yards — a touchdown run at the 5:56 mark in the first quarter to make it 14-0.
The Dukes (1-0) were never tested, rolling to 416 yards of offense, 226 rushing and 190 passing. They scored 28 unanswered points and led 28-0 at halftime against overmatched Alcorn (1-1).
Stephon Robertson led JMU with 11 tackles, while Dean Marlowe added eight and Ryan Smith had seven. Smith, a senior safety, also had an interception on a deep ball to end the first half.
The game was delayed an hour because of poor weather.
Next week, JMU plays West Virginia at FedEx Field.
