King Would Not Want Something Renamed For Him

Posted: July 24, 2013

Why would anyone want to take away a name that honors someone else to honor Martin Luther King? Being the kind of man he was, would he want to take away from someone else’s being remembered?

Walking trails are being planned to run through every park in the Friendly City. Don’t you think Mr. King would feel more honored to have his name on some landmark that has not already been named?

If a place already named is to be changed, why not change the name of the Simms School given that it was, at one time, an all black school? How about the new street from Stone Spring to Erickson Avenue?
