HARRISONBURG — At least one person appears to have sustained serious injuries in a late-night crash near Exit 243 on Interstate 81 in Harrisonburg.
At 11:40 p.m. Thursday, first responders were dispatched by the Harrisonburg-Rockingham County Emergency Communications Center. According to dispatchers, a single-vehicle rollover resulted in serious injury to a 20-year-old female passenger, who was evacuated via AirCare 5 medevac helicopter and flown to Sentara RMH Medical Center.
It was unclear how many people were in the vehicle and whether anyone else was injured.
According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, both southbound lanes of travel and both shoulders were closed because of the accident.
