Shame On NRA Head For Post-Massacre Defiance

Posted: December 29, 2012

At his news conference after the massacre at Newtown, Conn., Mr. Wayne LaPierre, its spokesman, has once again proved that he is a man with no soul.

He could have said that he understands the public’s demand for stricter gun control, especially of military-style weapons.

He could have said that while he still believes citizens have a right to own as many guns of any sort as they wish, the NRA would be willing to meet with anyone or any interested party to see if they could develop a reasonable solution to the issue in a way that would be consistent with the Second Amendment.

But he did not. Rather, he reverted to the NRA’s usual rigid opposition to any kind of gun control, reasonable or not, using the same tired old arguments he always uses including the (questionable) absolute, inviolable right to bear any kind of arms no matter how that right may be abused.

Shame on him!
