NEW: Single-Vehicle Crash Seriously Injures Driver

SUV Crashes On Simmers Valley Road

LINVILLE — Police and emergency crews responded to the 7000 block of Simmers Valley Road north of Linville about 3:15 p.m. today for a serious single-vehicle crash involving a sport utility vehicle.

The driver, a woman, was the SUV’s only occupant. She was taken from the scene to Sentara RMH Medical Center suffering head trauma, according to emergency personnel.

Details about the driver, including her name and age, and what led to the crash are still unclear.

The Virginia State Police responded to the scene as well as Rockingham County deputies and fire and rescue units. Also responding were Harrisonburg rescue units and Hose Company No. 4.
