Man Arrested In Child Pornography Case

HARRISONBURG — A Port Republic area man is in jail after police arrested him in a child pornography case Friday, according to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office.

Mark Edward Sipe, 41, is charged with using an electronic device to promote indecent liberties with a child, three counts of possession of child porn, and possession of a controlled substance.

Authorities conducted an investigation into illicit pictures and other online communications being sent by a man to juveniles in the Rockingham County area. The man in question was Sipe, according to police.

On Friday, a task force of investigators from the Virginia State Police, the Harrisonburg Police Department and the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Sipe’s residence in the 11000 block of Port Republic Road.

The investigation is still ongoing, and it is likely that additional charges will be placed, according to police. Sipe is being held without bond at Rockingham-Harrisonburg Regional Jail.
