Willie Ray Tingler, 46, was convicted of felony aggravated sexual battery. The victim was under the age of 13 when the crime was committed sometime between 1988 and 1991. Tingler was in his early 20’s.

HARRISONBURG — A Rockingham County judge found a Harrisonburg man accused of molesting a minor relative more than two-decades ago guilty Tuesday during a bench trial in Rockingham County Circuit Court.

Willie Ray Tingler, 46, was convicted of felony aggravated sexual battery. The victim was under the age of 13 when the crime was committed sometime between 1988 and 1991. Tingler was in his early 20’s.

“This is something that has been brushed over or ignored by leaders in the family for quite some time,” said Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Clark Ritchie during closing arguments, adding that the complaint was made immediately but other family members didn’t do anything about it. “This little girl, at that time, made the disclosure immediately.”
