Memo To City: Stop Spending

Posted: June 12, 2014

We have seen numerous articles regarding the city’s extravagant spending plans, including the municipal complex and a new elementary school. We have seen how the city plans to raise revenue to cover these expenses, and it is, of course, through higher taxes and fees.

I have an idea for the city: How about staying within the limitations of your current level of income, based on the current tax and fee structure, like your citizens must do? Stop raising taxes and fees.

Your citizens’ incomes have been stagnant over the last five years, but you keep taking more, giving us less upon which to live. We cannot raise our income from our employers by edict or decree. Why should you?Do you not know how to balance a budget?
