Police Seek Help In Finding Missing Senior

HARRISONBURG — Police are seeking the public’s assistance in finding a North Carolina man who may be headed toward Grottoes.
Virginia State Police issued a “senior alert” Tuesday evening for Lawrence Leon Parrish, 74, of Smithfield, N.C., who is cognitively impaired and poses a “credible threat to his health and safety,” according to a news release.
Parrish is described as a white man about 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds with green eyes and white hair. He was last seen on Sunday in Smithfield, N.C., wearing a red plaid shirt, blue jeans and possibly a gray jacket that says “members only.”
He was last known to be in the Oilville, Va., area off Interstate 64 west of Richmond early this morning. He is believed to be driving a champagne-colored 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with Virginia license plate number KET-4921, according to the state police.
The release does not say why he may be going to Grottoes or how police know he was in Oilville.
