More Liberal Intolerance
Ah, liberal intolerance — we would not continue to make such a big deal of it if leftists stopped providing us with fodder.
The latest? Fifty — some push the figure as high as 100, in a student body of 31,000 undergrads — malcontents at Rutgers raised a stink about the choice of former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as graduation speaker. School president Robert Barchi stood by the selection, but not staunchly enough. And so the squeaky wheel eventually got the grease, as Dr. Rice, that accused “war criminal,” gracefully declined an invitation she had previously accepted.
“Commencement should be a time of joyous celebration for the graduates and their families,” she said. “Rutgers’ invitation to me to speak has become a distraction for the university community at this very special time.”
Tolerance, consummate class — may this example not be lost on her sophomoric detractors. But maybe that’s expecting too much.
