Mr. Warner, Heal Thyself
Tuesday night at 10:39, Sen. Mark Warner’s office blasted an e-mail with his assessment of President Obama’s State of the Union speech.
Mr. Obama offered some commendable suggestions to empower the middle class, Mr. Warner said, “promoting more business startups, investing in infrastructure, and reforming the government’s role in housing finance to protect taxpayers.” But Mr. Warner did not stop there. He ended his statement by saying: “I would have liked to hear more about our nation’s fiscal challenges in tonight’s speech, and fixing our debt remains one of my top priorities.”
It goes without saying — we’ve said it many times over — that the first step Mr. Warner might take toward “fixing our debt” would be to stop voting in party lockstep for initiatives that only serve to increase it.
