HARRISONBURG — Officials with the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office have announced the arrest of a Staunton man in the death of 22-year-old Coleman Denzel Neeley, also of Staunton.

According to a statement from the department, deputies received a call of a shooting in the 2000 block of Knightly Mill Road in Fort Defiance shortly before 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

When arriving, they discovered that Neeley had been taken to the Augusta Health hospital in Fishersville by a third party, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigator Michael Roane of the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as Michael Terrell Williams, 20, of Staunton, according to a press conference hosted on The News Leader website.

Williams, charged with first-degree murder, was arrested after a traffic stop. Two other people in the vehicle, Marquis Andrew Johnson, 19, and Philip Joseph Sabo, 18, both of Staunton, were also arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder. All three are in custody at Middle River Regional Jail in Verona.

Officials with the sheriff’s office were unable to answer questions as of press time Sunday, saying that additional information would be made available today.
