N.J. Man Indicted In Sex Sting
Arrested In City After Meeting Cop Posing As Teen Girl Online
HARRISONBURG — On Monday, a Rockingham County grand jury indicted a New Jersey man accused of soliciting for sex from what he thought was a teenage girl.
Senol Yilmaz, 44, of Pennsville, N.J., was indicted on one felony count of using a computer to solicit a child for sex and felony indecent liberties with a child.
Following his indictment, Yilmaz appeared in Rockingham County Circuit Court, where Judge T.J. Wilson scheduled a plea hearing for Sept. 15.
The investigation into Yilmaz began in early April when police say he started chatting with an undercover officer working with the Northern Virginia-Washington, D.C. Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
The undercover officer is based in Rockingham County.
Police say Yilmaz believed he was chatting online with a 13-year-old girl.
On April 14, police say, Yilmaz arrived in Harrisonburg to meet the “girl.” He was then arrested.
He is free from Rockingham County Jail on a $20,000 secured bond.
