More than a year after an Elkton couple accused of stealing a boat’s generator during a police sting, the case is still waiting a resolution.

Darrell Crawford, 47, and his wife, Melissa Crawford, 48, are charged with felony grand larceny.

On Friday, during a hearing in Rockingham County Circuit Court, attorneys in the case they have yet to reach a plea deal but hope to strike an agreement in the coming months.

Judge Bruce Albertson set a plea hearing for the couple for Aug. 18 — more than two years after the alleged offense.

On Aug. 8, 2012, prosecutors say, Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries agents set up a decoy boat along Spotswood Trail near Rocky Bar Road near Elkton.

The boat contained an expensive generator.

While the boat was set up on the shoulder of the roadway, agents say the Crawfords stole the generator. The generator had a GPS tracking device placed on it, police say, which led them to the couple's home on Barbershop Lane in Elkton.
