NEW: Bond Hearing Delayed In Fatal Shooting Case
WOODSTOCK - A bond hearing for Fort Valley man accused of shooting and killing another man last month was postponed this morning in Shenandoah County General District Court.
Daniel Scott Harvey, 33, of 600 Stephens Lane, was arrested April 1 and charged with felony manslaughter.
During a hearing this morning, Judge Amy Tisinger rescheduled a bond hearing for Harvey for June 27, the same day he’s scheduled for a preliminary hearing.
On March 31, sheriff's deputies were dispatched to Harvey 's residence shortly after 7 p.m. to investigate a reported shooting.
Deputies say the victim, Harry Grant Nelson III, 36, of Winchester, was shot once in the torso. Nelson was taken to Shenandoah Memorial Hospital, where he died a short time later.
According to Shenandoah County Sheriff's Office, Harvey suffered "trauma" to his head and torso, but those injuries were sustained after the shooting. It's unclear how Harvey was hurt, but deputies say a small group of people were at the home at the time of the crime.
A domestic-related incident involving another person preceded the shooting, deputies said at the time of Harvey 's arrest. The sheriff's office has not provided further details on the relationship between that person, the suspect and the victim.
The type of weapon used to shoot Nelson also has not been disclosed.
Harvey is being held without bond in Shenandoah County Jail.
