The City of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County plans to send out a test message tomorrow through the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Emergency Alert System in conjunction with the statewide tornado drill.
The drill is scheduled to take place at 9:45 a.m. Harrisonburg City Public Schools plan to participate in the drill.
Mary-Hope Vass, the city's public information officer, said the path of tomorrow’s tornado be along Route 11 from the Rockingham County-Shenandoah County line and will extend to the Augusta County line.
In the drill, the tornado will go through the city on Main Street and the Park View area.
Those who have registered for the system and are within a half mile from the expected path along either side of U.S. 11 might receive the test message.
Vass said registered users with addresses directly impacted by the emergency will receive a call to their registered phone number.
The city and county launched the EAS in June 2013.
Anyone with questions or believe they should have received the message can email info@HREmergencyAlert.com.
