HARRISONBURG — Unofficial results are in for the Broadway Town Council election, with two newcomers taking two of the three available spots, according to the Virginia Board of Elections website.

Chad Comer, 37, led the pack of five candidates with 751 votes. He was followed by Bev London with 592 votes and Leslie Fulk with 567.

Tom Buskirk, a Planning Commission member, missed out on a seat with 384 votes. George Dowrey, an incumbent, lost his bid for another term, coming in fifth with 275 votes. The contest also garnered 39 write-in votes.

Comer is the owner of Blue Ribbon Nursery and Landscaping.

London, 55, will have to resign from the Broadway Planning Commission. She is in her second term on the commission.

Fulk, 50, was appointed to council earlier this year. He previously served on council for eight years.

The Daily News-Record will have a complete report on this election in Wednesday’s print and web editions.
