NEW: Cops Probe Early Morning Assault, Robbery

HARRISONBURG — Harrisonburg police are investigating a strong-armed robbery that occurred early this morning on North Main Street.

The victim was struck on the back of the head as he or she was getting into their vehicle shortly after 2 a.m. today, according to a release from the Harrisonburg Police Department. The assault occurred in the 400 block of North Main Street.

The assailant took an undisclosed amount of cash from the victim and fled on foot.

The gender of both the victim and the robber was not released, and it’s not clear how badly the victim was injured. Details of the suspect’s description were not immediately available, police said.
