HARRISONBURG — The Harrisonburg Public Works Department is set to make changes to downtown traffic signals Friday night.
The signals will no longer operate in flash mode from midnight until 6 a.m. Instead, the signals will run in coordination but operate on the shortest cycle to minimize delays, the city says.
Ten traffic signals are affected in an area bound by Main, Liberty, Bruce and Gay streets.
The change is meant to improve pedestrian and vehicular safety. A traffic analysis revealed an increase in traffic, which prompted the switch.
