HARRISONBURG — The Central Shenandoah Emergency Medical Services Council will officially launch its recruitment and retention campaign Friday at the Rockingham County Fair.
The event is the first of five planned and will introduce the council’s theme, “Saving Lives One Volunteer at a Time,” according to a press release. The fair is the only event in Rockingham County or Harrisonburg.
The council provides regional planning and technical support services for 10 cities and counties, plus towns and public agencies, which includes Rockingham County and Harrisonburg
Its goals for the campaign include raising awareness of the role that emergency providers play in public safety, educating people about volunteer shortages and then encouraging them to help fill the gaps.
