HARRISONBURG — An early morning fire on the outskirts of Dayton destroyed a building at a locally owned cabinet-making business early Saturday morning.

Firefighters were dispatched to the cabinet finishing site for R&K Woodworking, at 2629 Shoreshill Road, just after1 a.m. Saturday. The cause of the fire is unknown, said Rockingham County Fire Chief Jeremy Holloway.

The business is owned by Ray and Marsha Shank.

It took about two hours to get the fire under control. It burned through about half the structure, but the building was a total loss, Holloway said. Firefighters were, however, able to contain the blaze before it reached a connecting building. No one was injured in the fire.

Some equipment and several finished cabinets were also lost in the fire, and Holloway estimated the damage at roughly $200,000.

The fire was called in by a passerby, Holloway said.
