A fire late Sunday night destroyed a workshop in Shenandoah.

Chief K.L. Jenkins of the Shenandoah Fire Company said firefighters responded to a blaze at 2660 Jollett Road around 8:30 p.m.

“When we arrived we had a large fire,” said Jenkins.

Elkton Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to the scene to assist in fighting the fire and bringing more water to the scene.

Fire crews battled the blaze at the roughly 5,500-square-foot building for several hours.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Jenkins said.

While Elkton and Shenandoah firefighters battled the blaze, crews from McGaheysville Volunteer Fire Company manned the towns’ stations.
